States across the country are changing their laws in order to decriminalize marijuana possession.  New Jersey is not currently one of them.  In Madison and throughout the rest of New Jersey, marijuana “pot” possession and drug paraphernalia possession are still criminal offenses and the penalties are severe.

Possession of marijuana less than 50 grams is a disorderly person offense and is punishable up to a maximum of 6 months in jail, hefty fines and driver’s license suspension. A conviction for possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana can result in up to 18 months in jail and $25,000 in fines.

Madison NJ Marijuana Lawyer – (908) 358-2938

Attorney Daniel Sloan handles Marijuana Possession charges in Madison and throughout New Jersey.  In any marijuana possession case, he looks to make sure the police conducted a valid search and that the police actually tested the substance to confirm that it is, in fact, marijuana.  If the police did not do their job correctly, he will file a motion to dismiss the case on behalf of the client.

If there is no basis to file a motion to dismiss, the Sloan Law Firm will work to have the client admitted into a Conditional Discharge program.  Successful completion of the conditional discharge program can result in marijuana possession charges ultimately being dismissed.

I received a moving violation, and was very nervous to go to court and face the penalties. Dan assured me not worry- his confidence and well-rounded knowledge of the law are why I walked out of the court very happy. I highly recommend Dan Sloan and will only call him for any other issue I should face.
